Unneeded updates?

I have Office 2007 installed but since I use TheBat! email client, I didn't
install Outlook.
Why, then, does Microsoft Update insist that Outlook junk updates are
important and necessary when they're not even relevant?

Surely updates for suite components that are not installed should not be
automatically installed.
