Sorry if this is the wrong group. Going away for 10 days. Using a Gateway Laptop with Vista. Should I unplug and let the battery do what ever for the 10 days, or not? Thanks, Barnnie

You should do that regularly... it's not good for the battery to keep
a notebook plugged in all the time.

When you return the battery will still be almost fully charged (if you
haven't ruined it already).

Let it discharge during use before plugging in again.

"You should do that regularly... it's not good for the battery to keep

I don't think that applies to modern batteries.

You're absolutely correct... and I was wrong.

Here's a reference I looked up when I read your note:

No need to keep it plugged in for 10 days, assuming it will not be
turned on (Standby is turned on). In fact I would unplug it for anything
over two days. The battery will do very little.

The battery alone would not last 10 days.. take the power adapter with you..

Barnie, it appears that I misunderstood. If you are going away for ten days and leaving your laptop behind, turn it OFF..

Don't flatter yourself. You're not important enough for *anyone* to
stalk. You can be a man and admit you made a mistake or you can try and
denigrate me, hoping your mistake will go unnoticed.
