Unread e-mail that doesn't go to the inbox

I just installed Windows7 in place of Vista. No mailer was provided. I
installed Windows Live Mail to replace the mailer from Vista. Why doesn't
all of the new mail go to the inbox? I only find it in the unread mail box.

Hi, Gary.

There is no "generic" Inbox in WLM. There is a separate Inbox for each Mail
Account.

But you can use Quick views to create the Unread mail box, which shows the
contents of all the Inboxes in a single view. It doesn't actually move the
messages; it just shows them all.

It doesn't work perfectly. Sometimes the Unread mail Quick view shows
nothing unread, even when there are unread messages in one or more
individual Inboxes - or in individual Junk e-mail or other boxes. But it
usually works pretty well. And we can right-click on Quick views and choose
from a menu of things to be shown there.

I only have one e-mail account. That's why I'm confused. They should all
go to the inbox. Why don't they?

Gary,

The account's email Inbox is found under your email account in the left hand pane. If the email account folders are not shown,
expand the folder by placing the cursor on the account name and clicking on the small icon(looks like a right angle
triangle)adjacent to the account name.
- Your account folder is shown directly below the Quick Views section.

Unread Mail is an option, as R.C. explained available in Quick Views. Think of Quick Views as a search, that finds and displays
messages(and their status) that reside elsewhere(Inbox, Sent, Junk, Drafts, Feeds, etc)

Do you use hotmail? Have you setup any rules that places mail in folders
when it arrives? If so then WLM will automatically use these rules also.
