My firewall has twice alerted me to a file trying to access the
internet, MCUPDATE.EXE it does not recognize it. Search on my unit finds
nothing did a scan with spyware and virus checker nothing found. Does
any one recognize this file.Is there some other way of finding out what
it is. thanks

Thanks for getting back. You can verify it by doing a manual update in
Media Centre Tasks and you will see mcupdate come to life if you look in
Event Viewer>Applications>Media Center and no doubt your firewall would
spot it again.

a quick search with GOOGLE would show it up.

Yes, but you don't get the personal service that you do with your local
corner shop.

John,

I just don't understand why you and others cannot use a searchbar. If
you type mcupdate.exe into any searchbar you will quickly discover it is a
part of McAfee's Internet Security Suite.

Do yourself a favor and uninstall anything McAfee, Norton/Symantec,
ZoneAlarm and TrendMicro. Your system will then function as it should.

Jesus. I really don't believe this ****.

"mcupdate.exe" is also a part of Windows Media Center.

Can you believe THAT ****?
