If you had not mentioned "update for Windows XP" - you still would not have
provided much information.
At least now we know you are running Windows XP. No idea if it is Windows
XP Home, Windows Xp Professional, Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows
XP 64 bit, Windows XP Tablet Edition, etc.
You also say that the "update requires at least service pack 2", but make no
attempt at informing if you are at that level of service pack in your
install.
Are you installing the said update by downloading the installer and
installing it that way?
