Update 98 to 98SE - need SE product key?

I want to update a 98 machine to 98 SE. I have the original key / OS
disc that came w/ machine (presumably an OEM disc, of course). I also
have a 98 update disc w/ no key.

I understand that

a) W98 SE Update discs actually came w/ product keys
b) but I don't need that SE key to do the update if have the 98 key

Can anybody confirm from both a legal and/or logistical standpoint
whether I need the SE Update Key to do the update?

You need a Windows SE Product Key in order to
use the Windows SE Upgrade CD. A regular
Windows 98 Product Key is not valid with SE.
