Update after an oem sys restore disk

One of my cousins ran an HP sytem restore disk after getting a virus,
completely reset her box and called me to help her after the fact. The box
reset to xp home with no service packs and can't seem to complete a win
update cycle. It says its checking for current win update software,
downloaded and installs MSI something, mal soft tool, and validation, says
hit continue and starts over scanning. After a min., it says it needs to
install (already downloaded) the same updates it just did. It'll repeat all
day if I let it. Any advice or way to install sp2 without win update?

AutoPatcher XP includes all the updates after the install of SP2; go here:
http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=89 and downlaod the November
Full then the December update.
