hi,i have a window that keeps appearing, and even though i cancel it,it comes
back. It's an update alert, but it doesn't tell me from where it is sent, and
what it is,it doesn't identify itself,so i don't want to install it. Before i
install something i like to know what it is. It comes back every day, even if
I cancel it. I don't know if it's important or not,so I need to have an
answer as soon as possible. Thanks.

Windows version?

Assuming you're seeing a yellow exclamation point [ ! ] icon in Notification
Area (to the left of your clock) and a "balloon tip" says updates are
available, see:

How to configure and use Automatic Updates in WinXP:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306525

Sounds like you want to select the Notify Only option.

NB: If you have Windows Defender installed, its updates come in via
Automatic Updates.
