Update Available Icon

When I see the "Update Available Icon" I always run the Windows Update
program rather than clicking the icon. I don't like the background update
since I never know what is happening. Since I have dial up does the
background download just stop and start as I logoff and on?

Understand that by doing so, you're pushing all the Automatic Updates users
further back in the queue.

If you configured Automatic Updates to "Notify Only", you would.
