Update can't be installed.

Using WinXP pro. The update feature works normally until one day in December
the
following updates were not being able to be installed. The "New Update" alert
keeps coming back but none of them can be installed successfully. Please
help.

Security Update for Windows XP (KB873339)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB890175)
