An automatic update popped up, i pressed yes to upload and when completed my
computer switched off. When turned back on again it brought me to the welcome
page, brought up my desktop for 4-5 sec, then switches to a page where it
checks my drive continuosly and asks for my hardrive disk. This keeps
repeating over and over and does not give me a chance to do anything, even
when i have the disc in. Ive found one other person that this happened to and
they have the same problem. The update was given on the night of the 5th.
What can i do????

Do you know what update this was? Have you tried booting in safe mode? If
you can get into safe mode an know what the update was you could uninstall
it.

It sounds to me like you had a redirector virus on your system. I would
clean all temp files and temporary internet files run virus scan and check
regedit HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run to see if
something strange is there also check add\remove programs for strange
programs. Also, the the internet objects installed to see if something
strange is located in the objects
