update causes internet lose

After every update to Windows Vista, I lose the link between my router and
the Internet.
I use a wireless connection to the router.
Everything works fine until I get a windows update.
Then I can connect to the router and access other computers in the
workgroup, but not the internet.
The error report is blockage due to firewall, possibly due to policy
restriction.
I use the Windows Firewall, not a third party.
After I restore the system to before the updates, the connection is again
good.

Machine is a custom built
1.3 MHz Intel CPU
1 GB of RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium.

Update: Router is a DSL modem/router by ActionTec
