However, the update systems wants to try again every time I am using my
computer and the defender icon is always in my toolbar. I am set for

Same problem here. I don't know if it is installed or not - one place it
shows it is installed a dozen times!! Tried to look in Microsoft website for
a solution and it showed several which are too complicated for me to attempt
so until Microsoft puts out a download to correct the problem, the darn thing
can just sit there!!!

I am having the same issue as you guys, I am using Vista Home Premium (not
sure about you guys but im sick of having it say i have the same update
available =\)

I know you could just disable auto-updating but that wouldn't be the best
(in my opinion)

I am not sure that this is really installing. Go to the list of installed
updates and see if it is listed. It is not on my PC which is using Vista
Home Premium. There is one installation just called "update" which does not
have a number which makes me believe that it did not install correctly but is
the one we are trying to install. What do you think?
