Did you repair the Windows installation previously or upgraded from
Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Professional? If true, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144/en-us

If that doesn't help, please provide the error code shown for each
of the updates in the Update History link on the Windows Update site
while clicking on the red cross in the Status column there.

You may want to have a look into the "windowsupdate.log" file placed
in the Windows folder too. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093
for help in how to interpret the file and/or post the *last* 50 lines
from the log file into your next reply.
