I have a new computer that keeps erroring while trying to install windows
updates. I have reinstalled the OS. Renamed the SoftwareDistributionFolder and many other things. I even installed the SP3 update for Windows XP and the updates still will not install. I am enclosing the last 50 lines of the WindowsUpdate.log file. The system is a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 with 2 GB Ram, 200 GB hard drive. 2008-05-19 08:42:51:297 1068 9ac DnldMgr WARNING: File failed postprocessing, error = 80246002 2008-05-19 Who manages the network and how many systems are on it ? Do other systems show these errors in the WU.logs ? Is there a server and, if so, what's on the server in terms of security? Does the server update successfully ? Is WSUS involved ? Who is the Admin for the network ? I am the network admin have about 6-7 servers.
This is the only system that shows the errors. We have security in the form of a Sonicwall Firewall appliance. We have over 30 pcs and all update fine. This is the first one I have had an issue with. I am checking the hardware to make sure there isn't any data degradation occurring.
