I've reviewed the listings for the 80070103 error to discover that they all
seem to refer to a sound issue. However, I'm having the error "Update Error
80070103 Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad" reference on an HP LapTop unit (Vista
Premium32 SP1).
I have the latest update for the device already installed. Any ideas on how
to get the error removed and remove the update icon from my lower-right task
bar?

0x80070103 - If it is a driver then the driver you are trying to install is
already installed or you’re trying to install an older driver.
It is my personal opinion that all drivers should be obtained from the
manufacturer's site rather than from Windows Update.

Hide the update or check the manufacturer's site for an up to date update.

Thanks, TaurArian...

Yes, the driver was already installed via HP (and from the Manufacturer).
Windows Vista (System Devices) properties (when attempting to install the
driver manually, does the web-search, etc.) and reports back that the "Latest
and Most Current Driver Is Currently Installed". . I get the same result
from the Manufacturer's Web-Site, when I attempt to re-install the driver
(even a "Remove and RE-Install" process has not cleared the "Error-Message"
from Windows Vista's "Microsoft's-Update Progam.

I've Manually Cleared the "Update-Log" according to "Microsoft's
Instructions" as well, RE-Booted... That didn't work....Did a Complete
Shut-Down, wait for 10 minutes and RE-Start...That didn't work. I still have
the "Windows-Update" icon in my tray. When I either click on it OR goto
Windows-Update, the Results are Still There of the "Failed-Update-Install".

Must be a Glitch with VISTA or Synaptics, is all I can figure at this point.
I'm still searching. When I find it, I'll post back Thanks.

Hide the update.

See: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...torial140.html

...... Click on the View available updates option.

.......................right click on the update and select the Hide update
option.
