update error microsoft cant figure out

I have xp home and go to v5 for update when I click to scan it comes back
with Error number: 0x800A0005 I searched microsoft and cant get an idea what
the error is I also am trying to figure out how I got a bunch of hotfix sp2
under my add/remove list so many days ago and when I check the about in the
browser I see xpsp2.030422-1633 and beside the update version I have sp1 with
a bunch of the Q files beside it. if anyone can figure this out please let me
know thanks.
