Update failed to install

The folllowing updates failed to install:
Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB969613)
Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB969679)
They both return error code 0x8007066F. I can find nothing on the support
site or the Knowledge base to help me.
Any suggestions? I am running Office 2007 and Windows XP

That didn't work. I am still getting the failed installation error.

I also am getting this error on a few workstations. KB969613 & KB969679 fail
with a 0x8007006e error

To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems,
especially since you're getting a different error. State your IE version
and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP2) in your first post.

I have the exact same problem and have found nothing either. HELP!?!

Ditto. Though I got Error Code: 0x8007006E
Did you perhaps have Office 2003 with Compatibility Pack for Office 2007 installed before updating to Office 2007? I did.

Updates KB969679 and KB969613, both security patches for Office 2007 and the compatibility pack from what I can tell, will not install. While I am running XP, not Vista, I don't think this relates to the problem.

Problem seems related to the Office upgrade. The Office 2007 install process seems to leave things untidy (Add/Remove Programs still shows the now unnecessary Compatibility Pack installed but it can't remove it). Guessing this affects Windows Updates preventing security patches for Office 2007, I downloaded/ran Windows Install Clean Up to remove install information for Compatibility Pack for Office 2007. (Search for Microsoft KB 290301 entitled Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. I'd post the url, but forum newbie limits apply.) Both patches installed just fine afterward.
