update failing 0x8DD0018

when ever i try updating window xp i get a message that wuauclt encountred a
problem and must shutdown, this happens a number of times and then i get
error number[0x8DD0018], if anyone knows hoe to fix this please let me know.

Take the problem a step further... All my services were 'enabled' and
running.
However, I still recieved the same error #.

A resolution I found was to TURN ON my firewall software, ZoneAlarm, and
allow "Ask for Access" for the processes: Generic Host Process for Windows,
and Internet Explorer.

Afterwards, the services were allowed to access internet, and perform the
Windows Updates.
