Hi Davis,

Can you verify that you do not have your computer running low on battery
power or the power cord to the machine is not plugged in? This error is
common on some laptops where the machine power cord is not plugged in.

My computer is on full AC power constantly. I have tried to install on a
daily basis for approximately 2 weeks now, with no luck. You may note that
prior I was getting the same type of update on a daily basis. It was
installing, but repeating itself. Now, nothing.

I have the same problem. I was on battery power, the update downloaded
itself, and then it refused to install because I was on battery (*two* full
battieries, mind you). How can I get SP2 to download itself again? Do I
remove a file or something? Thanks.

same problem here. apparently it's because we were on battery power instead
of AC when we tried to install the SP. oddly, in all the "get ready for SP2"
hype nobody bothered to mention that you'll get ganked if you're on battery
power. I am getting a copy of sp2 from this site right now to see if i can
force an install, let you know how it goes

I had the same problem of not being able to install because 'on battery
power' (allegedly) - my AC adaptor is connected, but the battery icon is on
the task bar and power management says 'on battery power', though clearly the
battery is charging through the mains - somehow the computer thinks it's on
battery power alone?!?

Did you manage to install from that site on battery power? If so, how, please.

Any ideas on why my battery icon (along with reduced CPU performance
associated with battery power) persists despite having a functional mains
connection plugged in???

Thank you, I was able to down load the sp2 from your the sugested site on
08/26/04. I saved the file and and then ran it on three computers in my
network. This file installed the sp2 and cleared away all previous patches
that were being send to me through the automatic down load from microsoft.
All three machines are runing great. Thanks again.
