Update failure & support also fails

When attempting to install Office 2003 SP2, it fails repeatedly with
Installation Failure
Error Code: 0x530
There is a link to use MS Help & Support but there I repeatedly get
An unknown application error occurred. Please try again in a few minutes.
My Internet connection is good and I can successfully post this message.
