I cannot install Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 and Update for Windows XP
(KB898461) via Windows Update. A copy from the WindowsUpdate.log file for the
latest attempt can be found below.

I have the same exact thing and now I cant do any windows updates, it says I
am missing regestered files, and it attemps to re-install them but really
does nothing. This problem ensued after my last automatic update.
