update faster more secure what a joke

hello,

i have a dell 8250 pent 4 2.3ghz XP Home version 2002 service pack 1

I have never done windows update because from past experience it just slows
down and creates many computer conflicts.

However now that there is a new service pack I thought I would give it a
try. So i downloaded the “new windows update� restarted the computer and its
so slow

Luckily I created a restore point which undid the mess

Should I still try to update to SP2. I don’t want to risk giving me a
headache.

What should I do to update the computer?

Let me know if need any more information

Check with the Dell support web site for any Dell updates that may be
available for your particular computer before installing XP SP2.
