When I use windows update it finds the same two critical updates.
Sometimes it installs them, sometimes it says they are installed but they
arn't. This has been going on for about 6 weeks. They are -Outlook Express
KB837009, and Media Player-KB828026. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Hi Jupiter: I have the same problem situation as Bob does. I followed the
instructions you provided for 828026 in the Registry Editor. Got to the
point where I need to delete SPO and I do not have it. Running Windows
Millenium and WMP9. Any ideas, before I continue?

Thank you,

Ed

Ed;
If it is not there, is there something similar in Windows ME?
Otherwise just skip that step.

Hi Jupiter: No, there isn't anything similar in Windows ME. I'll go ahead
and skip that particular step and will get back to you with results.

Thanks again!

Hi Jupiter ! It's me again. I meant to include a couple of queries in my
last response. First, In the Add/Remove Programs, I have WMP9 listed as
"WMP9 Series Power Toy - Ratings Migration". I have tried to remove it,
confirmed "Yes", yet the program is still there.
Second, I do not have KB828026 listed as an update in the Add/Remove Pgms.
I only have these two: Windows ME Edition KB891711 Update and Windows ME
Edition Q823559 Update. Should I remove the latter two?
Please advice. Thanks

The other two are different and not related to your current issue.

Hi Jupiter:

Thank you! I'm new at this and just wanted to make sure. You answered it.

Before I sign off, I do have one more question: May I address any other
inquiries to your e-mail address - or would you prefer I continue posting the
same in our Discussion Group? Reason: Regarding your answers, you not only
address these well - but the link you've provided is extremely helpful.

Best regards,

Ed

Jupite: Thank you for providing the instructions for KB828026. I have
experienced not a single problem since I completed all the steps you
provided. 1) WMP9 is working fine. 2) Have not received repetitive messages
for critical update KB828026.
3) Installation history shows all updates as successful.
In closing, I do have a simple question to add: Should I still try to
download the Update for 828026 and re-install it? I believe I should. Please
acknowledge and again, thank you.

Ed;
As long as it is installed and Windows Update does not try to install it
again, you are OK

Also, to answer your other post, asking in the newsgroups is usually best.
That way many can contribute.
Sometimes someone else may have something additional to add.
There are often others with the same question and many can benefit to
questions and answers in the newsgroups.
