update freezing 0x80072EFD error

ok ever since i got my labtop fixed and working again, most the time when i
go to update it it will either freeze at the (checking to see....) window
and i will get a (0x80072EFD) error, or when is at the small
downloading/installing window and rarely ever goe threw fully, and this pc
doesnt have a virus or spy or malware cause im constantly scanning and stuff
and it dont have hardly any memory or items on the thing and i make sure
everything is already closed out when i try to update, dunno if it matters
but i use FireFox as my main browser though

ok its not freezin as much but it still runs in circles with no progress at
the ( checking for latest updates on your computer) windown and wont continue

ok it dont freeze as uch but it still runs circles in the (checking for

Try registering the following:

Click Start, select Run and type (pressing enter after each one and wait for
the success message):

net.exe stop wuauserv
Press Ok

Repeat for the following:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll

net.exe start wuauserv

i got one update on it done rebooted and went for a round 2 and got a error
on the Update for Windows XP (KB904942) and didnt download and install
