Not long ago, Windows update would let me know updates
were available for my computer with a discription and
size of the item and I could choose what I wanted. Now, I
get the Update icon in the systems tray, then after
loading, it does not tell me what the update is. Why does
it not let me choose---and how do I cancel it during the
downloading? And, 3 weeks ago, I ok'd the downloading of
SP2 and I don't know if anything has happened. I don't
think I want SP2 just yet---if that one starts
downloading, how do I stop that one? thanks,LD

I haven't installed sp2 yet and I check for updates by
using IE, Tools, Windows Update, and then checking the
Custom Update box. I am guessing that if you OK'd
downloading of sp2 you are now running WinXP +sp2.

>(10-10) When I open the icon, it does not tell me which

update it is,but I think it IS the sp2---there is an End
User agreement---I spoke with a tech at Windows and he
said I can just let it sit there in the systems tray and
whem I'm ready, I can use a disc for the installation. He
did not recommend downloading the SP2 from the website. I
am sure the downloaded files are NOT active on my
computer. All is well, thanks again, LD
