Update History and Installed Updates don't match

My function keys stopped working today. Since I hadn't made any
configuration changes to my computer, I suspected am auto-installed update
was causing the problem. When I look at the Update History, there are four
installed updates listed as "Successful". The latest corresponds in time to
when my keyboard's function keys stopped working. I switched to the
Installed Updates view, and it says there are no updates installed.

Which view should I believe? Why are they different?

This will advise on the current update status:-
From Microsoft - Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer.

Thanks for the link, but MBSA seems to be oriented toward security updates,
not updates in general. The MBSA.exe download at that link unsigned
(Publisher Unknown), so I'm nervous about installing it. It just tells me
that "No incomplete software update installations were found." It doesn't
tell me which updates have been installed.

And it doesn't really answer my question of WHY the two views are different.
