Last night Windows Update downloaded and installed (with some difficulty)
six updates. It's usually a very smooth operation. Windows update history on
the web shows they installed successfully.
NTP's W32TIME came at the same time and tried to start a log right in the
middle of the paragraph I was writing in Notepad. In a few minutes after I
shut down and restarted, I opened Notepad again and it was still filling
pages and pages with rows and rows of yesterday's date and time.
I didn't know what was going on so I shut down and did a System Restore for
the previous day. By that time W32TIME had got its act together, and finally
everything quieted down and I have no problems today.
The 6 Wupdates' "$ntuninstall" file shows for each of them, and the Windows
Update log shows the kinds of problems it was having, but also shows at the
end they were all successful installations.
.........................................
The 6 updates show up in the Windows directory, but not in Add/Remove.
Q. Would the System Restore to prevous day remove the updates but leave the
uninstall files? Where can I look for proof?
...........................................
The reason I ask is because the Windows Icon showed up again this evening
and said it had 6 new updates. When I went to the update web, the scan only
listed the activation tool.
