I have IE7 on Vista Home Premium.

My Windows Updates history shows only 6 updates. This is for a period since
17 January 2009.

My Add & Remove programs list shows about 90 updates. The earliest is 19
December 2008

I assumed the update history would show every update.

Please advise.

You may have erased your history at some point -

To check what updates are actually installed :-
Start button || Control Panel || Programs
Under Programs and Features - click View installed updates.

Well, this could be related to
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...ce47f9058287b9
or
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...da9ec4edfa0f49
or
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...3998574cbb5c7a
(where you tell us that the Dell Notebook PC came with Vista preinstalled in
June 2007 but you "wiped Vista and installed WinXP Home from [your] old Dell
laptop" & violated your Warranty and any Service Contract in the process).

That being said:

Why did Dell send you a "replacement harddrive" in December?

Did you format & reinstall Vista? If so, when and what CD did you use?

Did you upgrade from WinXP to Vista? If so, when and what CD did you use?

Did you install Vista SP1 on or shortly before 17 Jan-09?

Really. For some reason, the name rang a bell so I decided to do some
digging. <eg>

Thanks for the response.

>> Why did Dell send you a "replacement harddrive" in December?

For the previous drive, CHKDSK found one bad sector that could not be
repaired.

>> Did you format & reinstall Vista? If so, when and what CD did you use?

I formatted the replacement drive, and installed Vista. I used the laptop's
own CD from 2007.

>> Did you install Vista SP1 on or shortly before 17 Jan-09?

Immediately after installing Vista in December, I applied all outstanding
Windows Updates. This included a service pack. From the control panel, the
date was 22 December 08. (I think there were about 75 outstanding updates.)

I suspect that you may have had occasion to delete...

%windows%\Software Distribution <= this folder

....at some point after 22 December 2008, for whatever reason.
