for a couple weeks now I have had the yellow shield in my system tray,
signing on it would appear, and then quickly disappear, this weekend, it did
finished 6 updates, and then I would install those, and the yellow shield
keeps appearing upon sign in. I go to windows update and there is IE 7 to
download, should I go ahead and did this manually, or will the yellow shield
keep appearing and disappearing. I didn't know if this too might be a reason
that computer will sign off a little slower then normal. Thanks for any
input.

If you look in %windir%\windowsupdate.log, I think you'll find the error
"Update is not allowed to download due to regulation" associated with the
download/install of IE7. Translation: Servers are busy, try again later.

You can install IE7 manually if you wish from

Required reading IMHO before installing IE7:

IE7 is not a critical update, Crafty. IOW you don't have to install it.
