update incomplete

I recently removed all adware and spyware from my computer, defragmented it
and cleaned the hard drive. This was an attempt to improve slowing
performance; however, I am unable to update Windows. I get the message
saying the update is incomplete. I have tried all of the suggestions on the
Microsoft web page to no avail. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem I followed a procedure to delete activeX
controls now I cannot find new ones to install, that is the key, I think.

hi i also am having this prob i deleted the active x files and cannot update
anything still it really is getting to be a pain inthe ass pleeeeeze some1
help

I see there are others who feel my pain. Certainly someone has figured out
how to remedy this problem. Help!

I have been having the same problem for a while now. I have tried everything
but nothing seems to be working. However,

I found this http://www.updatexp.com/0x800B0004.html
and it seems to help some people fixing the 'update incomplete' problem.
If you have not already, check it out it might just work for you.
