I sure am tired of seeing this .Net Framework 1.1 SP 1 Security update
failure. I cannot be the only one seeing this. Please fix it.

How is anyone here going to fix it?

What operating system and service pack level are you running?

What have you done to try and remedy this?

1. Before doing anything else, write down the .NET Framework versions which
are already installed:

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785

2. Now see Resolution Method 2 in...

When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0,
or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or Windows
Installer error code "1603" (ignore the title, if need be)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100

After running the appropriate/needed tool, (re)install all .NET Framework
versions manually using the download links on the page then run Windows
Update manually to install security updates for same.

NB: KB923100 references this page:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archi...30/611355.aspx. Please read
ALL of it as well as the related page
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx before using the .NET
Framework Cleanup Tool.

this update is annoying many XP users, why don't you fix it instead of
telling people to mess up their PC by using complicated nonsensical
instructions.

this is done as part of automatic update, and all other updates were
successfully installed but this one that keeps annyoing PC user on daily
basis since it was released a week ago.

tried installing it through the web page but also failed.

can't you write a bug free software with all the monies you got out of
selling them?, or is this another trick by MS to damage XP user PCs and sell
windows vista or 7?

No one posting in this newsgroup works for nor represents Microsoft.
They are *volunteers*.
If you want to vent to MS, then why don't you contact them instead of
ranting at the volunteers ?

Better yet, why don't you contact MS for ***no-charge support*** for
getting the .NET Security update installed as it will cost them money
and maybe the folks who author these .NET Framework updates will
pull their heads out of their you-know-whats -

" Support
• Customers in the U.S. and Canada can receive technical support from
Security Support http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=21131
or 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no charge for support calls that are
associated with security updates. For more information about available
support options, see Microsoft Help and Support.
• International customers can receive support from their local Microsoft
subsidiaries. There is no charge for support that is associated with
security updates. For more information about how to contact Microsoft
for support issues, visit the International Support Web site.

I don't have anything to do with it, d00d! MVPs neither work for nor
represent MS.
