Update installed 9 times and STILL being asked to install this

Hi,

I was prompted for an update this week - KB931906 - Security Update for
CAPICOM. I installed this, and restarted the PC, and prompted for this
again. I seem to have installed this 9 times according to my updates list
and apart from turning off updates, which I am loathe to do, I am unable to
stop the update icon showing an update is required and having to keep
installing this.

Any ideas on how I can resolve this as the update is installed. I try to
add it manually using the MS website but only get the option to remove the
update.

Thanks

Greg Matthews

There are some ideas here

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...G=Search&meta=

Seems odd that you have just been offered an update from May/June 2007.
Have you tried to download to disc or desktop, disconnect from the net,
disable all security progs and anything running in the background - then
install and boot after, even if not asked.
If you are certain it is installed????

Have you tried any of the below -

How to troubleshoot Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are
repeatedly offered an update

Windows Update already installed

Windows Update says the update is still needed

Hi,

I am unsure exactly what happened but the update prompt no longer occurs.

I tried a combination of things from the links provided and re-booted a
couple of times and ran Windows Updates and this update no longer is being
prompted, so thanks for your help on this.

Greg.
