Update KB888113 Not Installing Properly

After weeks of trying to save my ME system I gave up and reformatted and did
a fresh install of ME. I have not yet done the IE6, WMP upgrades and I
already have a problem. Update KB888113 indicates it installs properly on the
update screen but when I check again for updates it's listed once again.
Belard Advisor doesn't show this number as installed, but a Belarc printout
of my previous system doesn't show this KBB888113 either (maybe it creats a
different hotpatch number). I tried uninstalling the few updates that showed
in Add/Remove programs but this didn't help.

I looked in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CatRoot|{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
for a file 888113.cat and did not find any such file (should there be one
with this name?).

I examined the "Windows update log" and every operation associated with
KB888113 indicates a "Success" status. I examined the iuhist.xml file and
every download and install status for KB888113 is "Complete (no errors).

I looked in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
for a file "888113.cat" and did not find any such file (should there be one
with this name?).

Any Ideas or suggestions?
