Update KB908531 Blocking Subsequent Updates

Using Windows or Microsoft Update on a Windows 2003 SP1 Server used as a
Terminal Server.

Windows or Microsoft Update offers Update KB908531 (exploit which gains
control on Windows IE). It installs the update. It claims to have installed
without error. Yet when I go back for more updates, it offers me that same
update again. Because it Windows/Microsoft Update cannot see that this update
is installed, it is not offerring subsequent security updates.

There are no other users on the system when I attempt this - I am running
this from the console, not a Terminal Services session. I have tried
rebooting after the install although it doesn't always say that it needs a
reboot (it did request a reboot, which I did,when I downloaded the update
manually and attempt to install it).

I have also tried stopping the update service and renaming the software
distribution directory to force it to download the package again. Still no
joy.

So please could somebody tell me how to EITHER get this update installed so
I can then install further ones, OR get Windows/Microsoft Update to not worry
about this one and go and get the other later updates (I've even tried hiding
this update, but it still will not look for any subsequent updates).
