I have installed this (apparently successfully) repeatedly but keep on
getting it. Anyone else? Any suggestions apart from just hiding it and
assuming it has been installed OK?
XP Home, SP2.

Hi, I have been receiving this update all morning and have installed it each
time, when I check my list of updates with my programs, it shows more than
once, should I delete all the extra updates (KB92086) or just ignore them..
Also, if I have my updates set to be updated auto, how come it notifies me...

Thats good, after reading your post, I rebooted my pc and now that little
yellow shield is gone, I did have one more KB920872 waiting , so I started
the install and cancelled it... Now the ICON is gone.....good..

I also have the exact same problem (I'm actually glad that other people are
experiencing the same thing). Is there a prescribed fix? Are you still
looking for the log (it's a very large file, and I don't see a place to
attach).

Hi,

The most common cause for this is that you have an OEM PC on which the PC
manufacturer imaged the kmixer.sys, wdmaud.sys and splitter.sys drivers as
unsigned. Update.exe will treat these drivers as OEM drivers and not
overwrite them. Please try the following:

1. Download the update from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...n&Hash=7LFJN64
and save to their C: drive

2. Click on the Start/Run

3. Type C:\WindowsXP-KB920872-x86-ENU.exe /o and click OK

Thank you

Eric

My problem had been far more fatal with MS Update.

10PM last night the 'shield' said it had UPDATES and after a while, asked
to reboot, clicked "Ok". Big Blue Screen Of Death, no load of Windows, file
missing. I am 'on the road' without an XP disc...

Used GoBack to recover and turned Auto Update off, Looked at a lot of NGB
Recovery files and outstanding looked like Malicious Software Removal Tool
v1.20, September 2006 and this "Audio Update".

Went to MS Update and ran the Manual Update and they all loaded and this one
kept showing up again, went through all the steps on the MS KB but it was
this method posted by Eric that finally solved that problem, turned Auto
Update back on now.

Thank You, {also thank GoBack}
