Update KB927779 failed to install

The Version of Windows is _________ ?
Where did the error code appear ... either of the update sites, while
installing it, etc ?

I have windows 2000 Professional.
I recieve an automatic update then I click to install then the error code
"failed to install" appears after it is all done.
It's annoying because I have to turn off automatic updates.

The Microsoft teckkie told me to download and Install MDAC 2.8 SP1. Of
course that didn't solve the problem either so I kept downloading hotfixes
untill I was all out on the Microsoft site. To make a long story short IT
FINALLY WORKED. Most likely, I was missing an update. This computer crashed
twice and originally was Win98. Thanks for your help.

By " IT FINALLY WORKED " are you referring to the installation of MDAC
2.8 SP1 or to KB927779's installation ?
