The automatic update successfully installed about 13 updates but this one
does not install. The error code associated with it is 80080005. When I
click on the link for the help file I am presented with a list of 24 options,
each with a different error code which is not 8008005. I see there is a
problem with the 64bit version but cannot see any reference to one which
affects my computer.

Any advice appreciated.

Do a manual install
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

You must restart the computer after you apply this update.

Thanks for the suggestion. I managed to find the page to download the 32bit
version, (your link was to the 64 bit version).

When I run this it gets to the 'Searching for updates...' stage and does not
go any further, even if I wait 30 minutes. If I click on the cancel button
nothing happens so I have to use Task Manager to kill this process.

What is wrong with this update?

Well, here's a question to TaurAian:

I got error code 80070570 on Vista update 938371.

I have install all the other updates in two passes.

I have tried to install this update individually, after rebooting.

Should I try to manally install this one??

I should add that the update process seemed stalled last night and I killed
it and restarted wndows update. Could that be part of the problem???

I hope you expertise can help....

I'm having no luck with update 938297 and am getting error 80070570.

I have tried to install individually, after all my reboots, to no avail.

I am having the exact same problem as Viv, and am seeking answers. I am
using Vista Home Basic (32 bit).

Howarddy, your problems appear to be different than Vivs (and mine); perhaps
you should start a new thread. Respectfully-joho

Viv,

0x80080005 CO_E_Server_Exec_Failure
The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system
limitation.

Please download the 32 Bit version of the update once more from here:
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx

In the Search field type in KB937287
Click Search
Click the Add sign next to " Update for Windows Vista (KB937287) "
Click ' view basket (1) ' under Search
Click the Download button

Save KB937287, do NOT run it yet.
When the download is complete close IE and any other open programs.
Install KB937287 by *right* clicking it and choosing ' Run as
Administrator '.
Did that get it installed ?

If not, please post the WindowsUpdate.log located in the WINDOWS
directory [folder]. Enter this in the Start Search field windowsupdate.log
Click Search, or, click Start > Run > type in

%windir%\windowsupdate.log
Click OK or press Enter

Start at the bottom of the log and work your way back up until you find
an entry with a FATAL error in it.
Copy and paste the entire section of the log that contains FATAL in it
into your reply, please.

joho,

Please see my reply to Viv. Advise ' howarddy ' to start his own thread
as joho has also suggested. Thanks.

Thanks, I managed to resolve the problem before your post. It looks as if
some updates were not completely installed, (although I had rebooted when
asked to), as re-booting one more time finished installing the updates. Then
doing a manual install worked. Thanks to all who have offered suggested
solutions.

joho,

Try re-booting again. If you have the same problem as I did then it is
caused by a previous update not finishing completely so re-booting allows the
installation to complete and you can then manually, (or possibly
automatically), run the installation for 937287 again successfully.

Good luck, I hope you solve the problem.
