The Windows Moduels Installer crashes every time when trying to install this
particular update therefore failing to install. Other updates install fine.
Any suggestions on a resolution to this problem?

Running Vista Ultimate

Thanks a million!

0x800706BE -2147023170 RPC_S_CALL_FAILED

Start button --> RUN --> type in:
cmd /k net start "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)"
--> Click OK.
What is the message in the command prompt window that opens?
Does it tell you the service is already started, is unable to start, etc?

Hi Engel, I'm having the same problem. When I try to execute what you told
before, I get an "name of service not known" (this is a translation, since
I'm runing ultimate 64 in spanish).

When I download an update and then install the green bar goes to the end but
one minute after that a meesage appears telling me that the windows module
installer has stopped.

If I open the task administrator Under the process tab There are two
instances of the wuadt.exe running. one of them is "hung", because I can stop
one and then appears a message showing the error 800706be.

If I stop the second instance, it starts again few seconds later, and I
guess this is because I set the update mode in search, download but not
install.

Any ideas??
