Running Vista Home Premium SP1 on my laptop.
This update keeps appearing even though it is installed many times.
I have tried to remove the update as suggested in the work around in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954430 but the update does not appear in the
list of installed updates.
Any suggestions to obviate this annoying problem will be appreciated.

I too have the same issue, the KB has installed now seven times in three days.
Found it in "installed updates" but it doesn't give me the option to
unistall it.
And if you open up the details it says installation successful yet Vista
stills wants to install the update again !!!

Now see the "How to obtain help..." and "Known Issues" section here:

Go into Windows Updates

Right-click the update in question & choose HIDE

(Poster is using the web interface to add a Me too! to an old thread.)

You obviously searched on your web interface (Thanks.
--otherwise you wouldn't have responded to this obsolete thread.)
but why didn't you use the Show: filters with your search?
It's true, they frequently don't work because many questioners
don't bother to mark responses as answers and other readers
don't bother to mark posts as helpful but sometimes they do
and this FAQ provides examples of that. ; )

E.g., here frequent responder Engel evidently helped more than
a few with your problem symptom:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...c3a&sloc=en-us

(Alt-7 search for
KB954430
- Show: Answered Questions
- First hit
)

Good luck

This is very bad advice. Hiding a security update leaves your system vulnerable.

See PA Bear's reply earlier in this thread. The knowledge base article he
references describes the problem the OP is having and how to fix it.

Harry.
