I just got a new update (auto install) from Windows. When the computer
restarted nothing happened. The screen is blank and it vaguely sounds like
something is running but nothing is happening. If the on light wasn't lit you
wouldn't know the computer was on. I've restarted it but to no avail. I've
kept on for an hour to see if the update needs to 'kick in'
I'm running Windows XP Media. Help!!

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates.

Turn off the computer and then pull the plug to make sure it's all the
way off. Wait a minute. Plug it back in and try to boot it up. If you
can get to post but not to Windows in Normal Mode, try hitting F8 and
see if you can get into Safe Mode and use System Restore back to before
you installed the updates. If you can't get into post and the only thing
that happens when you turn on the computer is a black screen and nothing
else, it isn't the updates that are causing the problem but a hardware
issue and the fact that it occurred right after the updates is a
coincidence.
