Computer - 3 days old. Nothing altered. Like a fool, I decided to give
the update a try. The 3 files "Windows Installer 3.1, XP something, and
Validation" downloaded and installed OK. When I restarted the computer
so they could take effect, there was no sound when the Welcome screen
came on. There are none of my icons by the time in the bottom right
corner. Since I'm on dial up, there is no way to disconnect from the
internet now. I have to shut down the computer. Thanks a lot Microsoft.

Can anyone help?

Jim
