Update messing with bios?

Went out of town last week, wife used computer one day, I came back and the
system starts booting and says"boot priotiy has changed, go to set up" or
something close to that. When I go to set up, none of my drives show. I
re-detect them and it boots. I noticed an update auto-loaded on the day the
wife used the computer. I know it makes no sence, but could this update be
doing this?

Also, I cannot find the update in the add/remove programs, but it shows as
loaded on MS Windows update history.

Any reply appreciated.

Ronni

Ronni;
Only those updates with uninstall capability show in Add/Remove Programs.
Those without uninstall capability will not be displayed.
Check the article about that update and there will be uninstall information.
There will also be a list of changed files so you can verify if it is
installed.

It is extremely unlikely the update caused this.
More likely you had a BIOS issue.

Some people discover odd bios happenings when they shut down and unplug
their computers for the first time in eons only to eventually discover the
bios battery is dead.

Why not assume the bios battery will be dead and backup the data? The same
battery dies if the system is unplugged for long enough.

Back-up for possible BIOS issue is unnecessary since that will not cause
data loss.
But it is always a good idea to keep back-ups of important data.
