i have windows XP professional version 2002, version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
build 2600. (atleast this is what it says on the system information) with
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4700 @ 2.6GHz with 2 GB RAM on a MSI Motherboard. i
have the latest BIOS with latest drivers for display (Intel 82945G Express
Chipset Family), audio (Realtek HD Audio) and other things. following is my
question:

in windows update, i have 66 items in my download history out of which some
have failed. these are as follows:

1) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: x86 (KB829019) --- Error Code: 0xC000000D
2) Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - October 2008 (KB890830) ---
Error Code: 0x80080008
3) Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP --- Error Code: 0x80080008
4) Update for Windows XP (KB951072) --- Error Code: 0x80080008
5) Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929) --- Error Code: 0x80072F78

running the update (express or custom) does not show options for installing
them.

by the way i have internet explorer version 7.0.5730.13 build 75730. my
question is do i need them? if yes then how to download and install them? and
why is it showing ie7 failed when i have it and sp3 failed when my system is
showing i'm on sp3???

i have automatic updates turned on. any help or suggestion would be
appreciated.

thank you.

forgot to mention... furthermore when i run/open windows live messenger
windows installers starts which says prepairing to install. then i am
prompted with a seperate window which says "the feature you are trying to use
in on a network resource that is unavailable... the installation package it
searches for is 'Install_WLMessenger.msi'". when i cancel it messenger starts
and i use it normally. the only thing is that everytime i open messenger
(when not loaded in task bar) the same message appears and it is very
annoying.

can any one help me on this as well. this problem was not there from the
start... only started when i updated my messenger. thank you

Error message when you try to install updates by using the Windows Update or
Microsoft Update Web site: "0x80080008"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956703

See if the above answers some of the questions.
