Update notification for restricted user

Hi,

it seems to me that restricted user will not get notifications about new
updates. I understand that admin privileges are required to install the
update, but I would like to see the update available notification when I am
logged on (most of the time) as restricted user. Is there any solution?

Thanks Jan

Thanks you but I did not found answer to my question in those articles. I
have both WIndows 2000 and Windows XP and usually run as restricted user (no
admin privileges). Windows update is configured to notify my about updates
but not download or install. With restricted user I get no notification.
Then I read on internet that new update is ready, I log in as admin and
immeditaly the notification pops up. Is this expected behaviour?
Does the Windows update run as system process or with the credentials of
logged on user?

Regards, Jan

Due to some security issues associated with the vulnerablity addressed by
MS06-040, MS has been prioritizing updates pushed via Automatic Updates such
that all users may not have been offered all of the Aug-06 patches yet. See
