Update only cumulative patches

I'd like to suggest a new feature for Windows Update.

When WU is set to automatically install updates, there are any number of
small patches listed in the add/remove software list. Invariably, there's a
"cumulative patch" that comes along that wraps-up all of these fixes.

I'd love for there to be an option to only update on major patch releases.
People might argue that this makes the system less secure, but then, if
you're like me, I tend to "put-off" taking time to update a system w/ the
number of updates coming in. Any thoughts?

You accomplish the same thing then, in your scenario, by waiting anyway.

Don't want all the little patches between service packs - don't get them (at
your own risk.) ;-)

Essentially Turn off Automatic Updates if you don't want to bother using it
or be bothered by what it might do. It's not like you have any need to look
at the list of installed updates the majority of the time, and if an update
comes along that wraps all the prior updates in one big one and clears out
your installed updates list and replaces it with itself - if you didn't
look, you'd never had known. ;-)
