update options

In the past you could tell auto update not to remind you of an update
again..
So because there is an update available that I don't want, now I cannot get
rid of the taskbar icon telling me there is an update. I don't want to get
rid of the taskbar option for other updates I want

If you mean Windows Updates.. you can hide the ones you don't want.
Start Windows Update
show available updates
right-click on the one you don't want, select Hide update
