Update Page Error/ and Media Player Problems

I have a problem on the Microsoft update page, I am getting Error number:
0x8DDD0004 and no ActiveX control popup is appearing. Although I have my
computer set to automatic updates, I fear they are not being installed
because the website in fact does not complete a scan of my computer, list the
updates available and so on, it just gives me the error message. My next
question involved Window Media Player, version 10. When viewing a movie or
video in full screen mode my screen saver will come on. The check box in the
tools/options is already unchecked so it should not allow he screen saver to
come up and take me out of my movie since media should be considered active.

I have a similar problem , but mine keeps saying " bad crc this file is
invalid" or " we have found a problem with this file" I've been trying for 2
months now.. Im getting impatient. PLZ help
