Update page will go to check for update page but will but wont che

I have a wireless network with a linksys router connected to a bellsouth DSL
router. I have 4 computers running through it. 2 computer came with XP and
the other with 98. One of the 98s I upgraded to XP and this is the one with
the problem. I activate explorer and go to tools. From there I click onm
Windows update. I takes me quickly to the page, and the alert for "Checking
for available updates" comes up telling me that it could take up to a minute
to check my PC for updates. Minutes go by but it doesn't even attemp tp check
for updates, however the computer never freezes. Also, note that the computer
that came with XP originally, are having NO problems at all downloading the
upgrades, including the XP SP2.
