Update prevents computer from starting

One of these updates:
KB901190,
KB911927, or
KB913446

I have a stong suspicion that KB913446 is the culprit. Anyway, once
installed the computer will not start up in normal mode. I have to boot into
safe mode uninstall the security patch along with my integrated Realtek
RTL8139 NIC in order to get the machine to boot normally.

Is there a fix for this? I've updated my drivers from Realtek with no luck.

Also, where do the downloaded update files live on the local machine so I
can remove them so I am not constantly reminded to install this downloaded
update.
